Acceptable Use Policy

The conduct rules for everyone using Sploot: what may not be stored or sent, who may be invited, and how violations are handled.

Effective

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets the rules that apply to any use of Sploot: the application and website at sploot.sh, and any app hosted on sploot-app.com (together, the “Service”). It forms part of our Terms of Service and of any other agreement with us that references it, and capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in that agreement.

This AUP binds every person who uses the Service individually, whether they deployed an app or were invited to open one. By accepting an invitation or opening an app hosted on the Service, you agree to this AUP, even if you have no other relationship with us or with the person who invited you.

Business purposes and invitations

You will use the Service for your own business purposes, and you will invite only people connected to those purposes: coworkers, contractors, clients, partners, and others with a reason to use your apps. Inviting people with no connection to your business purposes is a violation of this AUP. You are responsible for who you invite and for taking access back when their reason to have it ends.

Content restrictions

You will not upload, store, post, or transmit content that:

  • is obscene, defamatory, deceptive, harassing, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory;
  • violates anyone else’s intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
  • violates applicable laws or regulations; or
  • contains viruses, malware, malicious code, or similar harmful materials.

Content we act on immediately

Four kinds of content are removed as soon as we find them, without the notice to an app’s owner or admin that we would otherwise give, and may result in immediate suspension or termination:

  • Child sexual abuse material, or any content sexualizing minors. We report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and to law enforcement.
  • Active malware, including using the Service to distribute malware or as command-and-control, phishing, or delivery infrastructure.
  • Doxxing: publishing someone’s private personal information, such as a home address or identification numbers, without their consent, or aggregating information about them in order to threaten or harass.
  • Credible threats of violence against a person or group.

Prohibited conduct

You will not:

  • engage in deceptive or illegal activities (including spoofing, phishing, and pyramid or similar schemes);
  • transmit spam or other unsolicited communications to other users;
  • publish benchmark or performance information about the Service without our consent;
  • use the Service in violation of data, privacy, or other applicable laws or regulations;
  • use the Service to engage in, promote, support, or facilitate hateful, discriminatory, or violent activities, whether online or offline; or
  • engage in any activity that we reasonably determine, on advice of counsel, will cause liability to us.

No disruption

You will not:

  • probe, scan, or test the Service for vulnerabilities, or access it through means we did not authorize;
  • disable or interfere with the Service or circumvent any of our security or access controls; or
  • try to access another user’s data, apps, or account without their express permission.

Helping others break these rules

You will not permit or encourage anyone else to commit any of the actions above.

Reporting content

Anyone who can open an app can report its content to hello@sploot.sh. Reports are read by a person, not filtered by software, and this path works even when the problem is the app’s owner or admin. Include a link to the app and what you found.

Enforcement

We may monitor compliance with this AUP and investigate any violations. When we act, we scope the response to the smallest unit that addresses the problem: a single piece of content, one person’s access, one app, or a whole account, in that order of preference.

For violations short of illegal content or the categories listed under “Content we act on immediately”, we ordinarily contact the app’s owner or admin first and give them the chance to fix the problem before we act ourselves. Illegal content and those categories skip that step.

We may report any activity that we suspect violates any law or regulation to law enforcement officials, regulators, or other appropriate third parties, and cooperate with them to investigate and prosecute illegal conduct. Our reporting may include disclosing information related to the violation of this AUP.
